Description
Next.js by Example is the name of the Next.js by Example training course published by Udemy Academy.
Described as a “React framework for production,” Next.js makes it easy to build highly optimized web applications in React. This course guides you through learning Next.js by developing two examples: a fully static website and a hybrid application (static + server-side rendering).
The first example, a personal blog website, will introduce you to basic Next.js concepts such as pre-rendering, file system-based routing, and hydration. This section shows you how to load data into pages that are generated statically at build time, and how to style your pages in CSS files or with the styled-jsx library that provides component-scoped styles. Give it a style.
The Deployment section gives you all the options to run your application in production, from fully managed serverless platforms like Vercel to configuring your own Linux servers.
The second example you will develop is a store website. This will be a more complex application that loads its data from a Headless CMS (Strapi) and uses advanced Next.js features such as incremental static rebuilding to automatically reflect changes to the backend data.
Optionally, it shows you how to enable TypeScript support in a Next.js project. Use of TypeScript is optional. All but one of the videos use plain JavaScript. But if you prefer TypeScript, you’ll find the full TypeScript code for the store example in the GitHub repository. This website uses the popular Tailwind CSS library for styling and the Next Image component for image optimization.
You’ll see different ways to load data from an external API, including writing your own API routes in Next.js, and how to choose the best approach for your specific needs. This example includes a secure authentication system based on JWT and cookies, and the React Query library will be used to store data on the client side.
Full source code is provided for all examples, with an easy way to see the changes made to each lecture. This course is updated with the latest version of Next.js i.e. 12.
